Westwood achieves FA
Charter Status
|
| |
|
| |

See the T&A story
We're tremendously proud to announce that
Westwood is now a Charter
Standard club! It recognises our commitment to both the players and the
game. It acknowledges that the organisation and coaching are good but
also provides a framework for us to continue to improve.
It's an important step for the club to take.
It's also one that leagues
aree starting to insist on, but that doesn't mean its a routine job as
the FA takes an exacting look at all aspects of the club including
welfare, respect, safety, coaching, opportunity, refereeing, equality,
finances and administration. In turn, we'll be entitled to a great
support package from the FA (and even a bit of cash) that will help us
make Westwood even better.

More tournament
success for the Under 8s Jets
|
| |
|
| |

The Under 8s Jets are having a summer to remember with another
successful tournament run, this time at the spectacular Prospect event.
The lads took on teams from all over the north of England on
their way to lifting the trophy and did not concede a single goal (well
done to new keeper James Topham). The final was an emphatic 4-0 win
against Panel Ash. Congratulations to all of them - again! |

Under 8s Jets retain
Rothwell title
|
| |
|
| |

The Jets were part of a proud Westwood tradition of success at Rothwell
when they won the tournament last year as Under 7s. But this year they
have rewritten the rule book by retaining the trophy. Well done to all
of them, and to the Under 8s Dolphins who reached the quarter finals of
their very first summer tournament - hopefully the first of many! |

Under 12s meet the
Minister for Sport
|
| |
|
| |
Representatives
of the under 12s have had their achievements and enthusiasm recognised
by no less than the Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe. He presented
them with unique tracksuits at a ceremony at Buttershaw Business and
Enterprise College. Yet again, Westwood boys make us proud! |

Under 10s Dolphins win
the league - again!
|
| |
|
| |
Congratulations
to the Under 10s Dolphins - now they have played their final Keybury
League game they cannot be caught and will be crowned division
champions once again. In fact, the Dolphins picked up the division
title an incredible three times out of four, and in the fourth year
they were runners-up. But while that's an amazing achievement, deep
down nobody can be too surprised. In theory the Dolphins are a B team
but, in practice, the lads could get into any A team and, as a unit,
they have given many an A team the run-around over the last four years.
That's not to say it has been easy. Opponents have grown stronger and
more skillful and the Dolphins had to dig deep a few times this year.
Those efforts have made the club proud and we hope they enjoy the
rewards.

Parking at Stocks Lane
|
| |
|
| |
Take care
when parking
around Stocks Lane for Saturday training. Sheer numbers have led one or
two to abandon their cars and the police are now aware of it. Don't get
caught out - please park responsibly or you risk getting a ticket!
