Match report
Westwood Jets 5 - 2 Silsden A
Sunday 2nd March 2008
The Jets kept up the pressure at the top of the table with this fine
performance. Adam Perry launched a ball across almost the full width of
the field to Jake Dawson, whose return was every bit as good, dropping
to Adam's feet behind the defenders for him to score the first goal. It
was well worked and deadly accurate, all the more impressive with the
strong wind gusting round the ground. The second goal was a combination
of Joe Allan's shot, Jake's header, finally getting turned in by the
Silsden keeper. A high ball from the Westwood defence was headed on by
Adam right into the path of Ross Kelly, who sprinted throught to score.
The second half was more even and Silsden pulled a couple of goals back
before the Jets regrouped. Kieran Walton finished a strong move through
the centre. A couple of turns in the Silsden penalty area saw Adam
Perry lose his marker and make the most of the space he created.
Meanwhile, Finley Richardson and Joe Allan stood firm in defence, aided
by Lewis Goldsborough and some cool goalkeeping by Jacob
Ashbrook. Joe was man of the match.
