Match report

Westwood Jets 6 - 0 Shipley Lions
Sunday 30th March 2008

An eye-catching performance from the Jets. Both sides were reduced to six players but the lads covered the ground well and were able to exploit the space as Adam Perry did to pick up a Shipley goal kick, run through and return it, this time to the net. Kieran Walton finished a corner for the start of his hat-trick. Lewis Goldsborough showed great skill to beat two Shipley players as he took the ball out of the Westwood half, finishing with a fine pass to Jake Dawson on the left. He sent a cross to the other side of the area where Adam was waiting to bury the ball.

It was a brave effort from Shipley, particularly their number 2 who picked up an injury before half-time but the Jets' deeper resources proved telling. Jake tackled well then hit a nicely-weighted ball along the left touchline to Kieran who played in Ross Kelly to score the fourth goal. Kieran then finished a couple of carefully crafted moves through the space in the centre. The first was a fizzing low shot across the keeper to the bottom-right corner, then good positioning allowed him to slot another home. Joe Allan and Jacob Ashbrook were the mainstays in defence. Joe was just pipped to man of the match by Adam who joined him at the back for the last few minutes.
