Match report
Guiseley White 0 - 5 Westwood Jets
Sunday 28th February 2010
The
Jets always seem to do well when they face a team with a sloping pitch
and today was no different. In-form Guilsey won the toss and decided to
play uphill in the first half. The Jets seemed to be winning a lot
of the 50/50 balls but the game stayed tight. Just as the boys thought
the break through was not coming, Tyler Rhodes passed the ball to Ryan
Tucker who scored from a low shot to give them a half-time lead.
The
team talk seemed to breathe new life into the boys who now had the task
of playing uphill. Mathew Rowntree played a great ball to Ryan Tucker
who scored his second. Guisley were battling hard to get back into the
game but their counter attacks were always cut out by Andrew Hawley and
Declan Wilkinson who were solid at the back. James Larvin found space
on the left and scored from a tight angle. James Topham, who had little
to do in goal, kicked a great ball out to the wing and found Ellis Wade
in space who weaved past several players to slot the ball under the
keeper. Ellis was on hand again to score a great solo goal to make the
final score 5-0. Today's man of the match was Andrew Hawley who
showed great determination to win every ball. Well done boys for a
great job.
