Match report
Westwood Jets 3 - 3 Gomersal Falcons
Sunday 27th April 2008
A hard game in terrible conditions, but one from which both the team
and its supporters emerged with great credit. A penalty for handball
saw Gomersall take the lead, and they doubled it after the break. Then
Kieran Walton found himself through on goal and was quick to beat the
keeper with defenders closing in. 2-1 and game on! Even when Gomersal
broke through to score once more, the Jets' heads didn't drop. A strong
run by Ross Kelly took him into the penalty area where he was brought
down. Adam Perry found the bottom right corner with the resulting
spot-kick.
Neither side was prepared to lose and the game continued at a furious
pace. Even a backline as strong as Joe, Finley and Jacob needed help
and Lewis, Ross and Jake stepped in. Then, good play between Ross and
Kieran delivered the ball to the right of the Gomersal area where Adam
ran in to level the scores. As the final whistle sounded on the final
game of the season, the Jets had showed themselves - and everybody else
- why they are champions.
