Match report

Bolton Woods Warriors 1 - 2 Westwood Jets
Sunday 25th March 2007

The Jets had to put in one of their best performances to secure this result. Usually quick to start, Bolton Woods were caught by a couple of quick goals, both great strikes by Lewis Goldsborough. Woods showed what they can do with a break to work the ball upfield and claim one back. Would 2-1 be enough with the second half uphill?

The entire team gave us the answer. Ethan Labad up front, Jake Dawson on the left, Adam Perry on the right and Lewis in central midfield were all strong and committed, beating the Bolton Woods players to the ball, tackling hard and stifling the cross-field play. Finley Richardson and Joe Allan in defence covered every attack and set piece with excellent running and clearing, restricting Bolton Woods to long-range shots. Jacob Ashbrook was confident in goal and had every one of these covered. The Jets were able to counter every attack with one of their own. These were well worked and, in a half when they should have been under pressure, they could have scored more.

Lewis was outstanding in this game last year and once again deserved to be man of the match.
