Westwood Dolphins 1 - 1 Shipley Tigers
Sunday 30th March 2008
An amazing effort from the Dolphins. In many ways they deserved more than a point but then a loss would have been hard on Shipley who also tried their hardest. There was skill and commitment from all the lads, in attack and defence, firing shots at the Shipley goal or stopping shots in front of their own. Ben Craig fought hard to keep the pressure on up front. Robbie Sharkey showed good vision with his passing and positioning. Once again, Josh Harding was athletic in goal. Patrick Henry and Louis Spivey made countless crucial tackles as well as starting and joining the attacks. Patrick worked the ball from left to right, Louis played forward to Tyler Fletcher who hit a pass with his first touch to Callum Armitage. Callum rounded a defender, struck low and the touchline erupted! The Dolphins defended well but didn't sit on their lead and it was a game that many stayed late to watch. Shipley matched the Dolphins' desire to win and pulled a goal back. Both sides enjoyed chances right until the end but the score stayed level. Elliott Gelder was man of the match for his electrifying runs up the right and great crossing, all the more impressive seeing as his foot was in a cast just two weeks ago!
