Match report
Gomersal/Cleckheaton Panthers 2 - 5 Westwood Dolphins
Sunday 1st March 2009
James
Larvin shot after 2 minutes from a tight angle near the corner
flag and found the corner of the net to put the Dolphins 1-0 up. The
Dolphins were having to work hard with Luke Stoyles and Kyle Fletcher
clearing there lines in defence. But they then went 2-0 up after James
Larvin lobbed the keeper from outside the box. James Topham pulled off
some great saves to keep the score at 2-0 at half-time.
In
the second half, Jordon Botwood knocked a great ball into the box and
Jack Crowe was there to push it past the oncoming keeper. Gomersal kept
coming and got a goal back, but the Dolphins were not put off their
stride. Ryan Abbasi weaved through the Gomersal defence to make it 4-1.
The Dolphins were then awarded a penalty when James Larvin was brought
down. James took the spot kick and placed the ball just wide but this
did not affect him and his hat trick soon came with a low shot. Just
before the end Gomersal pulled a goal back to make the final score 5-2.
The boys worked very hard, not least Luke Stoyles, who had a great game in defence and was awarded man of the match.
