Westwood Jets 2 - 1
Thackley Thunder
Sunday 29th March 2009
A well deserved win for the Jets although Thackley gave them a much harder game than only a few weeks ago. Indeed, they started well, taking a 1-0 lead within only the first few minutes, catching the slow starting Jets out with some good work.
The Jets pressed well and were soon playing more like we know they can with good passes and running. They won a corner mid-way through the first half which was well taken by Ollie Kirk-Patrick as Ellis Wade made some space and slotted in the equaliser with a great header.
Both teams played well in the second half but it was the Jets that took the lead with another well taken goal from the in form Tyler. Both teams pressed on for more but neither side could find the back of the net. Another good display from Keeper Declan Kay and the defence including Matty Malloy and Declan Wilkinson kept their score to only one. The man of the match award went to Josh Silson (on what could be his final game for the club) after another fine display in midfield covering every blade of grass on the pitch.
With just one game left, can the team go all season unbeaten?
