Match report
Horsforth Mustangs 0 - 10 Westwood
Sunday 25th October 2009
Another
great away day for the under 8s who dominated the game from start to
finish, emerging with another confidence-boosting win.
The boys
played down the slope first half and were soon on the score sheet when
Ethan Allen found space at the far post to side foot in for 1-0. This
was closely followed by Kian King with an identical goal. The next came
direct from a free kick from Josh Allen with a good strike into the top
corner. Some good passing play put Horsforth under pressure and they
conceded an own goal. This pattern of play continued and when Kian King
got his second, it looked like they would score on every attack but the
Horsforth goalkeeper made some good saves and the woodwork prevented
another goal before man of the match Max McGuire scored a deserved goal
after all his hard work with a determined run for 6-0. Just before half
time Josh Allen got his second when he pounced on a mistake by the
keeper.
In the first half Tyler Ratnick had played in goal and made a great save; Josh Allen went in for the second half. This
half was a little harder for the boys going uphill but they still
played some good football with Jordan Harrison commanding at the back
with Joseph Gallagher and Jacob Mcintosh helping with defensive duties
allowing Daniel Francis and Jake Speed to push on in midfield. It
wasn't long before hard working Tyler Ratnick got a great goal with a
very tidy finish from a tight angle. Westwood had a good few chances,
hitting the post twice and drawing some more good saves from the
Horsforth keeper before goal-machine Lucas Keenen got one with a good
shot then Daniel Francis hit a 15 yard free kick into the net for 10-0.
Again all the boys played there part today but the coaches named Max
McGuire the man of the match for covering the whole pitch with solid
determination.
