Match report
Westwood 8 - 0 Bramley Phoenix
Sunday 20th September 2009
The
boys started the new season of with a home game against Bramley Phoenix
and were soon hitting top gear with Lucas Keenen slotting the ball past
the keeper for the opener. More was soon to follow with Westwood really
playing some outstanding passing football and creating plenty of
chances by doing things as a team. The second goal again fell to Lucas
Keenen who showed he is going to score plenty this season with another
tidy finish then Ethan Allen opened his account up with a good low shot
to make the game 3-0 at half time.
In the second half Jacob
McCintosh came out of goal and was replaced by Max McGuire - both
stand in keepers distibuted the ball well. It wasn't long before Josh
Allen got his first of the season with a good determined run and shot
then Lucas got his first hat-trick for Westwood with a powerful strike
before last season's player of the year Daniel Francis, in nose bleed
territory (for him), notched with a good shot from just outside the
area. Lucas then added his fourth for 7-0 before Josh Allen unleashed a
over head kick from outside the area in the last minute.Jordan Harrison
played the whole game, getting stuck in to some great tackles in centre
midfield and was unlucky not to score, prompting some good saves from
the visiting keeper.Jake Speed and Daniel Francis were suberb at the
back and Joseph Gallagher and Tyler Ratnik played well in various
positions but it was left to the attackers to steal the limelight after
great play on most of the goals by Jacob McCintosh on the left of
midfield. The coaches voted four goal hero Lucas Keenen the man of the
