Match report
Leeds Maccabi 3 - 6 Westwood
Sunday 28th February 2010
By
far the best team performance of the season. The boys were straight out
of the blocks and didn’t take long for the ball to end up in the back
of the net after taking a deflection off one of their players as the
Westwood pressure told, setting the boys on their way for an excellent
first half . The second came from a well-struck shot from distance by
Jake, closely followed by another fine strike from Jack who had an
excellent match. The fourth came just before half time with a joint
effort by Jacob and Liam with parents and the boys split as to who got
the final touch across the line. The away team did have chances but
with new keeper Nathan having a very impressive debut with a string of
saves and Joseph and Josh giving 110 per cent in defence the boys went
in 4-1 at the half-time whistle.
In the second half Leeds
came out fighting and managed to pull the game back to 4-3. With
butterflies starting to set in for the parents watching, the boys -
especially Kaden and Elliott - responded with Liam scoring to make the
score 5-3 then Jacob got the sixth, finishing well. A fine team game
with everyone deserving the man of the match award but eventually it
went to Joseph, who gave his all in the game.
Well done boys! Even the Leeds parents commented on what a different team we were compared to the last time we played them.
