Match report
Westwood Jets 2 - 3 Guiseley
Sunday 13th September 2009
In
a close contest, the boys lost their opening game of the season
3-2.Within the first five minutes Westwood had scored, only for it to
be ruled out for a tight offside decision. But unfortunately, after
bucket-loads of pressure from Westwood, Guiseley counter attacked and
hit the opening goal with a lucky deflection. Later Westwood were back
on level terms with a cool finish from substitute Harry McMullen.
Minutes before half-time, Harry again went for glory with a stunning 20
yard strike and was denied by the Crossbar.
In the second half
Westwood took the lead with a spectacular individual goal from Kyle
Leighton Bingham. Kyle was then denied by a magnificent save from the
Guiseley keeper who managed to punch the ball round the other side of
the woodwork. Then Joe Wood's shot also got deflected but fortunately
for Guiseley the ball didn't find itself in the back of the net. Midway
through the second half Guiseley equalised with a goal that was mainly
down to a poor clearance from a corner. In the dying moments of the
game Guiseley hit again with a well worked effort. In the final stages
Roy Kimachia found himself one on one with the goal keeper but the
strike was put wide.In the end it was an encouraging start and we will
hope that next week we will give the same 110% performance and come
away with 3 points. Man of the match went to Matt Jacques.Well played
lads!
