Match report
Westwood Jets 9 - 0 Norristhorpe
Sunday 15th November 2009
The
Jets dominated a game where the ball rarely left the Norristhorpe half.
The visitors were living dangerously and relentless pressure from the
Jets told as James Leedale squared a ball across the face of goal and
Kieran Walton smashed it in. Dominic Anderson did exactly the same
after the ball ricocheted round midfield then came to him from the
right. The Jets had been practising set pieces and it paid off when
Jake Dawson signalled to Adam Perry who returned a short corner to Jake
whose spectacular curling shot gave the keeper no chance. Callum
Armitage burst through and, while the defenders managed to take the
sting out of his shot, it still reached Dominic who turned it in. A
Norristhorpe clearance only came out as far the Westwood midfield where
Kieran worked it back to James Leedale who beat a defender then sent a
low shot past the keeper.
With all the action in just one half
of the pitch it was crowded at times but the Jets still tried to play
their passing game. James Leedale picked up a kick from Jacob Ashbrook
and delivered a slide rule pass to Kieran Walton, who beat the offside
trap and slotted it under the keeper. Dominic walked it in after he
proved stronger than the Norristhrope defence. Adam Perry, operating on
the left, snuck the ball into the penalty area, put it through the
keeper's hands and in. Another kick from the Jets' goal found Connor
Thompson and a great cross almost allowed Dominic to head in. The
keeper had other ideas but could only parry it to James Leedale for the
follow-up. Matthew Wardman used his strength to create chances at the
end of the game. Meanwhile to took a couple of great saves from Jacob
Ashbrook to deny Norristhorpe a consolation goal.
